When Your Blog Crosses Borders: My Article on AI and eSports Cited in a Korean Book

Sometimes the internet gives you small wins. And sometimes it leaves you genuinely stunned in the best possible way.

A short while ago, I discovered that one of the articles published on falifuentes.com had been cited as a technical source in the Korean book “AI와 이스포츠” (“AI and eSports”), published by Commnbooks. This is not just a passing mention. It means that a piece I wrote for my blog ended up becoming part of a broader work examining the future of artificial intelligence in esports from a professional, educational, and industry perspective.

And yes, I have to admit it felt like a mix of surprise, pride, and genuine excitement.

A book exploring the future of AI in esports

According to the publisher’s description, AI와 이스포츠 focuses on how artificial intelligence is reshaping the esports ecosystem far beyond gameplay itself. The book looks at areas such as match analysis, training automation, fan experience, ethics, regulation, business evolution, and the growing role of education in this new landscape.

In other words, it does not stay at the surface level or rely on generic futurist hype. It goes deeper into something I have believed for quite some time: AI is not only going to change how people compete, but also how they learn, how they train, how talent is developed, and how the wider competitive gaming industry is structured.

That context makes the reference even more meaningful. One of the authors, Lee Seung-yeon, is associated with KeSPA, the Korea e-Sports Association, one of the most influential institutions in the Korean esports ecosystem. When professionals connected to such a mature and demanding environment use my work as part of their research, that means a great deal to me.

AI is no longer just an extra layer surrounding gaming. We are talking about systems capable of analyzing gameplay patterns, identifying weaknesses, anticipating opponent behavior, and offering strategic recommendations with a depth that is difficult to match through manual analysis alone.

2.Personalized training and continuous improvement

Once AI enters the picture, the value grows even further. Students are not just participating in competitive gaming environments. They are also becoming familiar with technologies that are already transforming entire industries.

4.New professional opportunities

Another idea I highlighted in the article was the rise of hybrid profiles: people who understand competitive gaming, but also data, automation, analytics, intelligent systems, and the technological infrastructure around teams, tournaments, and performance development.

That makes the intersection of AI and esports especially relevant for universities, researchers, developers, organizations, and technology companies.

5.Ethical and integrity challenges

Of course, this is not only a story about progress and excitement. There are serious questions that need to be addressed: privacy, algorithmic bias, competitive fairness, transparency, and the boundary between intelligent support and unfair advantage. In the article, I already pointed to the need for innovation to be accompanied by ethical reflection and clear rules.

That is one of the reasons it is especially interesting to see the Korean book also address issues such as regulation, fairness, and responsible adoption.

What stands out to me most about this citation

Beyond the personal satisfaction, there is something deeper here that I find especially meaningful: the conversation around AI and esports is now undeniably global.

An article written on my independent blog ended up being included in a book published in South Korea, one of the countries that has most deeply shaped the culture, structure, and professionalization of esports. That says a lot about the moment we are living in.

It says that good ideas travel.

It says that valuable knowledge no longer depends only on large institutions or major media organizations.

And it also shows that personal blogs, when approached seriously and thoughtfully, can become real sources of value for researchers, professionals, and institutions operating at a high level.

Korea, esports, and artificial intelligence: a natural combination

To me, it does not feel accidental that this reference comes from Korea. South Korea has long been one of the world’s leading environments for competitive gaming, digital culture, and advanced technology adoption. If there is any place where the intersection of AI, competitive performance, industry, and education makes perfect sense, it is there.

That is why this citation feels especially symbolic. It is not just an international mention. It is a connection with one of the most advanced esports ecosystems in the world.

A personal reminder

Very often, we publish online without really knowing how far a piece of writing may travel. A blog post can feel like just another article added to the flow of the internet, but over time it may reach unexpected readers in completely different parts of the world.

For those of us who enjoy researching, writing, and sharing ideas about technology, that is a powerful reason to keep going.

Because in the end, when you publish with curiosity, honesty, and a real intention to contribute something useful, you never know who might be reading.

A veces internet te da pequeñas alegrías. Y otras veces te deja completamente descolocado, en el mejor sentido posible.

Hace poco descubrí que uno de mis artículos publicados en falifuentes.com ha sido citado como fuente técnica en el libro coreano “AI와 이스포츠” (“IA y eSports”), publicado por la editorial Commnbooks. No hablo de una simple mención casual: hablo de ver cómo una reflexión nacida en mi blog ha terminado formando parte de una obra que analiza el futuro de la inteligencia artificial aplicada a los deportes electrónicos desde una perspectiva profesional, educativa e industrial.

Y sí, reconozco que la sensación fue una mezcla de sorpresa, orgullo y vértigo.

Un libro que analiza el futuro de la IA en los eSports

Según la ficha editorial, AI와 이스포츠 es un libro centrado en cómo la inteligencia artificial está redefiniendo el ecosistema de los eSports mucho más allá del terreno de juego. La obra aborda temas como el análisis de partidas, la automatización del entrenamiento, la experiencia personalizada de los fans, la ética, la regulación, la evolución del negocio y el papel de la educación en este nuevo escenario.

Es decir: no se queda en la superficie ni en el típico discurso futurista. Se adentra en una idea que a mí me parece clave desde hace tiempo: que la IA no solo va a cambiar cómo se compite, sino también cómo se aprende, cómo se entrena, cómo se gestiona el talento y cómo se construye la industria alrededor del videojuego competitivo.

Además, el contexto de esta referencia hace que todo cobre todavía más valor. Uno de los autores, Lee Seung-yeon, está vinculado a KeSPA, la Korea e-Sports Association, una de las organizaciones más relevantes del ecosistema competitivo coreano. Cuando un entorno tan exigente y tan avanzado en cultura de eSports mira hacia una publicación independiente como la mía para documentarse, el mensaje es potente.

En ese texto planteaba una idea que sigo considerando fundamental: la convergencia entre inteligencia artificial, eSports universitarios y formación académica no es una anécdota, sino una señal muy clara de hacia dónde se mueve el sector.

Mi enfoque en aquel artículo se apoyaba en varios ejes:

1.La IA como ventaja competitiva real

La IA ya no es solo una capa decorativa alrededor del gaming. Hablamos de sistemas capaces de analizar patrones de juego, detectar debilidades, anticipar comportamientos del rival y ofrecer recomendaciones estratégicas con una profundidad difícil de igualar mediante análisis puramente manual.

En un contexto universitario, donde conviven aprendizaje, competición y desarrollo profesional, esto adquiere una dimensión todavía mayor.

2.Entrenamiento personalizado y mejora continua

Uno de los puntos más interesantes es cómo la IA permite crear programas de entrenamiento adaptados a cada jugador. No todos los perfiles necesitan lo mismo. Algunos deben trabajar mecánicas, otros toma de decisiones, otros comunicación en equipo o resistencia mental. La IA permite convertir el entrenamiento en algo más preciso, medible y evolutivo.

3.eSports como plataforma educativa

Este punto me parece especialmente importante. Los eSports universitarios no solo sirven para competir: también pueden funcionar como espacio de desarrollo de habilidades reales y transferibles. Estrategia, trabajo en equipo, análisis de datos, capacidad de adaptación, pensamiento crítico, comunicación bajo presión… Todo eso está ahí.

Cuando además incorporas inteligencia artificial al proceso, aparece una capa adicional de valor: los estudiantes no solo participan en un entorno competitivo, sino que se familiarizan con tecnologías que ya están transformando industrias enteras.

4.Nuevas salidas profesionales

Otro aspecto que destacaba en el artículo es el crecimiento de perfiles híbridos: personas que entienden el gaming competitivo, pero también los datos, la automatización, la analítica, el diseño de sistemas inteligentes o la gestión tecnológica de eventos y equipos.

Eso convierte al cruce entre IA y eSports en un terreno especialmente interesante para universidades, investigadores, desarrolladores, clubes, ligas y empresas tecnológicas.

5.Retos éticos y de integridad

No todo es entusiasmo. También hay preguntas necesarias: privacidad, sesgos algorítmicos, equilibrio competitivo, transparencia de los sistemas, límites entre asistencia inteligente y ventaja injusta. En el artículo ya apuntaba esa necesidad de acompañar la innovación con reflexión ética y reglas claras.

Y precisamente eso hace todavía más interesante que el libro coreano aborde también cuestiones como la regulación y la equidad en el uso de estas tecnologías.

Lo que más me llama la atención de esta referencia

Más allá de la alegría personal, hay algo que me parece especialmente significativo: la conversación sobre IA y eSports ya es claramente global.

Un artículo escrito desde mi blog, en un entorno independiente, acaba formando parte de una obra publicada en Corea del Sur, uno de los países que más profundamente ha entendido el valor cultural, competitivo y estructural de los eSports. Eso dice mucho sobre el momento que vivimos.

Dice que las buenas ideas circulan.

Dice que el conocimiento especializado ya no depende solo de grandes medios o instituciones gigantes.

Y dice también que los blogs personales, cuando se trabajan con criterio, pueden convertirse en una fuente real de valor para investigadores, profesionales y organizaciones de primer nivel.

Corea, eSports e inteligencia artificial: una combinación natural

Que esta referencia llegue desde Corea no me parece casualidad. Corea del Sur lleva años siendo una referencia mundial en videojuegos competitivos, profesionalización del sector, cultura digital y adopción tecnológica. Si hay un lugar donde la conversación entre IA + rendimiento competitivo + industria + educación tiene sentido, es precisamente allí.

Por eso, que un libro centrado en ese cruce incluya una referencia a mi artículo me parece especialmente simbólico. No es solo una mención internacional: es una conexión con uno de los ecosistemas más avanzados del planeta en esta materia.

Un recordatorio personal

Muchas veces escribimos en internet sin saber realmente hasta dónde puede llegar lo que publicamos. Un post puede parecer una pieza más dentro del flujo habitual de contenidos, pero con el tiempo puede acabar encontrando lectores inesperados en lugares completamente distintos.

Y eso, para quienes disfrutamos investigando, escribiendo y compartiendo ideas sobre tecnología, es una gran motivación para seguir.

Porque al final, cuando publicas con honestidad, curiosidad y voluntad de aportar algo útil, nunca sabes quién puede estar al otro lado.
